Dalam kondisi normal proses kehamilan ketika sel telur yang sudah dibuahi oleh sperma akan melewati tuba fallopi yang kemudian menuju ke uterus. Sel telur tersebut akan melekat atau berimplantasi pada rahim dan kemudian terjadi proses pertumbuhan janin. Kehamilan ektopik merupakan proses kehamilan yang ditandai dengan terjadinya implantasi, pertumbuhan, dan perkembangan hasil konsepsi yang terjadi diluar endometrium kavum uteri atau dikenal juga dengan istilah kehamilan ekstrauterin. Dalam penatalaksanaan pada kehamilan ektopik salah satunya adalah tindakan operasi laparotomi, dokter akan membuat sayatan besar diperut sebagai jalan untuk mengangkat jaringan ektopik dan tuba falopi yang pecah. Tindakan laparotomi, baik secara darurat atau terjadwal, berisiko mengakibatkan komplikasi. Kesimpulan: kehamilan ektopik adalah kehamilan yang terjadi diluar rahim dan salah satu penatalaksanaan medis ialah operasi laparotomi. In the management of an ectopic pregnancy one of which is the operation of laparotomy, the doctor will make a large incision in the stomach as a way to remove ectopic tissue and ruptured fallopian tubes. Laparotomy, whether emergency or scheduled, risks causing complications.
